Sergio Aguero eyeing Champions League glory after record-breaking hat-trick

Sergio Aguero is eyeing more silverware and goals after displacing Thierry Henry as the record overseas Premier League scorer.

Argentine hitman Aguero fired a hat-trick as Manchester City thumped Aston Villa 6-1 away.

He is now has 177 goals after a record 12th league treble.

It helped lift City up to second but Aguero admits the Champions League may be their best bet for glory with Liverpool 14 points in front.

Aguero said: “I want to keep scoring and keep focused every game. I will be happy if we could do well in the Champions League.”

Aguero, 31, needs 83 more goals to tie Shearer on 260 as the top Premier League scorer ever.

Aguero, under contract until the end of next season, added: “OK, I will try. But Shearer has too many goals so I don’t know.”

Boss Pep Guardiola praised Aguero’s striking instincts but insisted his former Barcelona protege Lionel Messi remains the top striker he has ever worked with.
